Candy’s Place, a non-profit cancer educational and support organization based in Forty Fort, recently presented Wilkes-Barre General Hospital with a commemorative plaque in memory of local bandleader Lee Vincent.

The plaque was presented to the staff of the hospital’s Telemetry Unit by the late Vincent’s daughter, Penny Cunningham, who founded Candy’s Place in 1998 in memory of her sister, Candice Vincent-Mamary. Lee Vincent was a Telemetry patient on several occasions and developed friendships with many of the unit’s staff.

"We’re deeply touched by this gesture," said Mike Marlott, RN, clinical director of the Telemetry Unit. "I think this plaque will stand as a fitting reminder of a man whose music brought so much happiness to others, and who, as a patient, touched the lives of so many who cared for him."
